Tesla began producing its Optimus humanoid robot at its Fremont factory, calling the units its first production-quality bots. Third-quarter net income fell 43 percent to $787 million.

Early production

Tesla said Wednesday that Optimus production has begun in space at Fremont once used for electric vehicles. Chief executive Elon Musk called it early production with a slow and bumpy ramp, while still projecting 20,000 robots per week by the end of 2027. [1]

Third-quarter revenue was $28.04 billion, and net income of $787 million was down from $1.37 billion a year earlier, with spending on AI and Optimus a major drag. Unsupervised Full Self-Driving has been delayed again, with first customer vehicles possibly joining a robotaxi fleet around the second quarter of 2027. [1]
