Samsung Electronics reported on October 29 consolidated revenue of KRW 195.3 trillion for the quarter ended September 30, an all-time quarterly high and a 14% increase on the previous quarter. HBM4 and Memory Pricing
Samsung said its memory business set records for quarterly revenue and operating profit as server demand pushed up market prices across all applications, and that it significantly scaled up HBM4 sales. On the earnings call, executives said HBM4 sales more than tripled from the previous quarter and accounted for 60% of total HBM sales. [1] [2]
The company said its 2027 HBM supply is sold out at agreed target prices, that ten major customers have signed multi-year HBM supply contracts and that ten more are in negotiations. Samsung said it shipped HBM4E samples in early May and plans to begin mass production in the first half of 2027. Management told analysts it expects tight memory supply to continue into 2028. [2]
Foundry and Spending
The foundry business reported higher revenue and earnings on sales of HBM base dies, which Samsung makes on its 4nm process, and on order wins for 2nm high-performance computing chips from customers including major hyperscalers. Samsung said its new fab in Taylor, Texas, is expected to begin operations in 2027, and executives said wafer input for line setup there is under way. [1] [2]
For the fourth quarter, Samsung said the foundry business plans to achieve double-digit revenue growth, helped by new mobile products, a mass production ramp of 4nm NPUs and expanded memory product sales. [1]
Capital expenditure reached KRW 29 trillion in the quarter, including KRW 27.2 trillion for the chip division, and Samsung expects full-year 2026 spending of about KRW 84.4 trillion. The board approved a quarterly dividend of KRW 4,601 per share, totalling KRW 30 trillion. [1]
