Samsung Electronics has set up a Quantum Design Lab in the Boston area of Massachusetts and started recruiting, in what Digitimes called a new phase of its quantum computing push.

The new lab

Samsung Electronics has established a Quantum Design Lab in the Boston area of Massachusetts and has begun hiring for it, according to Digitimes, which said the move "marks a new phase in the company's push into quantum computing" [1]. The lab sits closer to US research hubs, the report said [1].

A separate report from LCD Product, dated 6 October, said the effort is an attempt to connect Samsung's semiconductor expertise with quantum development [2].

What is not yet known

The full Digitimes article is paywalled, and neither report gave headcount, budget or hardware plans. Samsung's North American office listing shows a Cambridge, Massachusetts site, but its page does not mention a quantum lab [3].
