Replit Makes OpenAI Default Model Provider Over Anthropic, CEO Says

Replit chief executive Amjad Masad said the coding platform has stopped working with Anthropic, a claim people familiar with the partnership disputed. Customers can still select Anthropic models, but ChatGPT is now the default.
Default model switched
Replit chief executive Amjad Masad said on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt that the company is no longer working with Anthropic, citing cost, partnership and performance. He said OpenAI models now perform better at building applications from scratch. [1]
After the session Masad said customers can still use Anthropic models, but ChatGPT is the default and most customers keep the default. Insiders familiar with the partnership rejected his account, and one said the arrangement was still in place. Masad said Replit had been among Anthropic's top five customers until recently. [1]
